If your team still has scheduling concerns, they must be communicated to your respective International Problem Captain upon arrival at campus.
  • Spontaneous Competition Overview from Spontaneous International Problem Captain Kayce Caugh. All problems and divisions compete in Spontaneous at Wells Hall.

  • Teams can now see detailed information regarding their specific performance location! This includes storage locations, floorplan diagrams, and notes on floor surfaces. *p4 storage room updated 5/23

All coaches must register their teams at the International Center.

Only coaches will be allowed in the registration area at the International Center.  To help the process function smoothly, we ask that one coach from each team enter the registration area, located at the back of the building in the Spartan Rooms. A tent will be placed behind the International Center for teams to trade pins and get to know each other while the coaches complete registration. Coaches will turn in the medical and media release forms, if they have not been uploaded to the World Finals Website and will receive your team’s housing assignment information, program materials, and directions to your residence hall check-in site and designated parking lot.  There are restrooms available inside the International Center, in addition to a food court and souvenir shop.

Odyssey Registration will be open:

Tuesday, May 23rd                2:00pm – Midnight

Wednesday, May 24th          10:00 AM – Midnight

Thursday, May 25th              9:00 am – Noon at the Odyssey Information Booth

Upon arrival to the residence hall, you will receive room keys, bathroom keys (if applicable), conference cards, wristbands, and lanyards. Conference cards are used for building/living wing access, meal access, and laundry room use.

If you lose your keys/cards, the charge will be $75 for the room key, $15 for the bathroom key, and $10 for the conference card. Charges will be billed to the teams by Odyssey.

Late Arrivals:

For those arriving after registration hours on Tuesday or Wednesday, please stop at the International Center.    Michigan State University staff will run a 24-hour check-in service if you arrive after midnight when the Odyssey desk is closed, you will call 517-648-2364 and the person will direct you to your assigned residence hall.  You will complete the rest of the check-in process the next day during regular registration hours.  If you arrive on Thursday or later, please check in at the Odyssey Information Booth at the International Center.

On-campus shuttles will be running throughout World Finals. Two route maps are available, showing the same routes. One features bus stop times and locations, the other features Odyssey of the Mind competition sites.

Read about public transportation options and parking for those driving to and around campus.

OMER’s News is the daily newspaper, published each morning of the competition, that keeps you up to date on what’s happening around campus and shares amazing stories from the Odyssey of the Mind community.

This year you’ll find the first issue in print at locations around campus, then subsequent issues will be available digitally via this website and our webapp.

Premier Portraits will be on site at the Creativity Festival from Thursday to Saturday during 2023 World Finals to take team portraits, accepting orders for World Finals yearbooks, Thank You cards, and additional photo products to record your trip to World Finals.

For prop disposal, participants are encouraged to recycle any paper, tin cans, plastic bottles/tubs/jugs that can be recycled inside the building at MSU’s recycling stations.  For example, if there is a water bottle affixed to a prop, pull that off and recycle it.  The props themselves should be disposed in the roll-off containers.  Staff will be regularly servicing these areas Thursday through Saturday. Please adhere to the following guidelines: (1) do not smash props outside near the dumpsters or leave debris on the ground. This tends to blow around and can become an issue for MSU staff as well as Landscape services as it often blows into the landscape.  There is no need to smash props as MSU attends to the area on a regular basis throughout the day. 2) Safety.  Never climb into one of the bins.  Participants must stand at least 30’ away from a bin when MSU is operating heavy equipment and sometimes pieces do come flying out.
